Research
Currently, several research works in mycology have been developed at MycoTec Lab taking advantage of it modern premises. The facility of MycoTec Lab has been used as a platform to the development of BSc, MSc and PhD thesis, and to Post-doctoral researches in their subject field in mycology. Further, there is a range of courses and training courses to students and professional comes from the mycological field. For more information contact the MycoTec Labs Research Department.
The current research projects ongoing on MycoTec Lab are the follow:
Filamentous Fungi in Drinking Water;
The occurrence of fungi in drinking water has received increased attention in the last decades, and fungi are now generally accepted as drinking water contaminants. The knowledge about the occurrence and diversity of fungi in water has increased considerably from a low knowledge base. Further, fungi in drinking water are involved in the production of tastes and odours in water. Health problems are possible, originating from mycotoxins, animal pathogens and allergies. The study of filamentous fungi in drink water is research field developed a long term by the MycoTec Lab researchers. Currently, there is a huge international project running at MycoTec Lab. This project aims a better understanding of fungi role in tap and bottled water and biofilm production through the bacteria, filamentous fungi and yeast consortium.Biodegradation of Organic Pollutants by White Rot Fungi;
Silver Nanoparticles as Antimicrobial Agents;
Study of Fungal Infections in Humans and Domestic Animals Skin;
